Brett Favre in a game vs the Buffalo Bills on December 5, 2010 was hit by linebacker Arthur Moats causing him to sustain a sprain of the AC joint in his throwing arm. On December 13, 2010 due to his sprained shoulder, Brett Favre was inactive for the game vs the NY Giants ending his consecutive regular season start streak at 297!!!!

On December 20, 2010 while playing the Bears, Brett Favre sustained a concussion after being sacked by rookie defensive end Corey Wooton. This would be Brett Favre’s final appearance in an NFL game.

On January 2, 2011, Brett Favre was unable to play vs the Detroit Lions in the final game of the regular NFL season. Brett Favre was unable to pass the NFL mandated post concussion tests. In a press conference immediately following the game, Brett Favre announced his intention to retire from football.
